Another Knopfler'ish Red Daion Rockson MDL on Ebay/Gumtree.com.au

It's funny how these things tend to turn up in groups, but here we have it, another very nice red "Strat" style Daion Rockson MDL.

It's funny the small variations in equipment these guitars have, this one has the very vintage style "Kluson" looking split tuners and twin pressed string trees, but has the more modern style bridge saddles, not the early pressed style.

This is  fine looking instrument, and if it's anything like the two Rockson MDL's I have the neck will be awesome, and it will be a great guitar.

History:
These guitars were built during the "golden era" of expendable quality timber and lawsuits against Japanese manufacturers who were making copies of certain big brand names. It was argued that some even exceeded in quality to their Western counterparts and were sold at a more affordable price.
The Daion guitar manufacturer was founded in 1962 by Yasuyuki Teradaira. Maker of house brand Daion guitars, along with JooDee and Johnson badged guitars. JooDee was made by master guitar luthier Shiro Tsuji. Outsourced work to maker Yamaki. Daion went out of business shortly after 1984.

Daion Rockson MDL Electric Guitar
Red in colour with plenty of bite. Fast neck action, white pick guard, aged control knobs and a rosewood fret board which is in great condition by the way, just look at the photos for yourself.
The headstock and neck is beautifully aged and features very sexy Kluson style split tuners with twin pressed steel string trees oohhhh yeah baby. As every vintage guitar would, this has a few wears on the body but will need to be viewed in strong light to see anything.
This "Strat" style gem is an affordable alternative to the real thing and will make you look and sound like a certain influential guitarist from a band called D*** Str**ts.
I look after my babies very well, I guarantee you this instrument plays and sounds like a dream. Buyer will not be disappointed.

Beautiful Red Wine "Gibson SG" Style Daion Performer on Gumtree.com.au

This is another rare find in Australia, a "Gibson SG" style Daion Performer.

This guitar body is finished in the lovely semi transparent red wine finish so the grain shows through just a little, the back of the neck and headstock are finished the same, with gloss black on the front of the headstock. The scratch plate, control knobs and pickup surrounds are glass black, and the tail piece, adjustable for intonation and height bridge and pickups are in a bright chrome finish that looks as shiny as the day it was made.

This guitar is perfect for the AC/DC fan, or just someone who just loves one of the most iconic guitar styles next to the Strat, Tele, Les Paul and 335. I'll be honest I'm not really an SG kind of guy, but I'm drooling over this one and would happily add it to the collection in a heart beat it looks that good.

For the asking price of AU$280 this would have to be one of the great Daion buys.

DAION PERFORMER Gibson SG COPY in near perfect condition.

This is an accurate copy of a Gibson SG. I don't know its history or where it was made as it has no Serial No or other marks.

It has an accurate "open book" Gibson style headstock and bell shaped truss rod cover. This could pin it to the "lawsuit era" - in which case its been hardly played as it looks near new.

Set neck.

Frets as new - zero wear.
Hard case an extra $30.

Rare Daion Power Mark XX Bass Guitar on Ebay.com.au

I was way too slow in getting this one up before it sold, but none the less a record of it needs to be made.

This is a very rare in Australia Daion Power Mark XX Bass Guitar. The seller comments tell all there is to know about it, and I'm not surprised it was snapped up quickly for the asking price of AU$1,400.

Link, seller comments and pics below.

Daion Mark XX-B
  • Maple and Rosewood laminated Body
  • 9 piece Maple & Rosewood through-the-body neck
  • Ebony fingerboard with brass dot positions
  • 24 frets
  • Split single-coil pickup in front & 8 pole single-coil pickup in back
  • Brass nut & saddles
  • Heavy duty bridge
  • Heavy duty machine heads
  • Deep glossy clear finish
The unique through-the-body neck construction provides additional strength and a low profile heel for easy fret access. This bass has an asymmetric neck profile, which, combined with the width of the neck, makes it a dream to play.

The neck core consists of two thick strips of rosewood with a thin piece of maple in the middle sandwiched between four plies of maple, two per side, themselves separated with a thin slice of rosewood.

The wings of the body are a  5 piece laminate of ash and maple separated by thin slices of rosewood.

The adjustable bridge is heavy duty brass with side lock screws.

From the serial number on the back of the head I think it was made in 1981. Daion went out of business in 1984. The company was based in texas but the instruments were made in Japan. These instruments were pretty expensive when new and were aimed at competing with other high end basses. This particular model was top of the line. The company went under before they really established a reputation that would have undoubtedly followed instruments of this quality.

I bought this guitar around 1995. Cosmetically the guitar is very clean with a few minor dings and scratches.

Comes with a hard case.

Cherryburst Daion "Les Paul" on Guntree.com.au

This is somewhat of a rarity in Australia, a "Les Paul" style Daion electric guitar.

This one is in the lovely Cherryburst colour, and although not too much is said about it, it looks to be a very faithful to the original looking guitar.

http://www.gumtree.com.au/Daion-Les-Paul-Guitar

I have for sale this high quality Daion Les Paul. These are sought after from collectors. Just google Daion and you will know how good and well crafted they were in the 70's and 80's.

This one is in amazing condition with a dead straight set neck (not bolt on like cheaper copies). Hardly any fret wear, neck profile is like an 60's Les Paul. Comes with a hard case.

Asking price $800.00 ono.

A Red Knopfler'ish Daion Rockson MDL

A little while ago a red Daion Performer with a maple neck popped up, this time it's a rosewood fret board version, very much more recent Mark Knopfler'ish in looks as opposed to the 80's maple neck version.

This Rockson MDL is a beautiful red colour, with white pick guard, control knobs and pickup covers, a rosewood fret board, and the headstock features vontage Kluson style split tuners and twin pressed steel string trees.

There's just something about a red "Strat" style guitar that is just so iconic, it's hard not to like them.
