The One That Got Away - Maple Neck Daion Performer on Ebay.com.au
Know your product - Know your opposition, and ignore both at your peril.
Finally a maple neck Performer came up, and not only was it cheap, it was ten minutes away from where I live, but did I put a serious bid in on it, no I bloody well didn't. The thrill of another bargain buy, and lack of any other bidders lulled me into a false sense of security that I'd be the only bidder.
Anyway, enough crying over spilled milk, here's the details.
Lovely maple neck, bullet truss rod, split tuners, black body with lovely aged pickup covers and control knobs (except one), interesting metal trem arm knob, and vintage style pressed saddles.
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Daion-Strat-Copy
Great guitar for beginners and intermediate players. It's a Strat copy.
Really nice set up making it easy to play. Everything in full working order. I'm off loading all the guitars that I'm not constantly playing so check out my other items including a brand new amp etc. Cash on pick up preferred. I'm ok with you organizing your own courier if needed. Comes with a strong hard case too.

Rare Downunder Daion Power Mark XX in Wine Red on Ebay.com.au
This is a rarity in Australia and a really nice addition to the blog, a Wine Red Daion Power Mark XX.
I dare say anyone wanting one of these could do a lot worse than buy this one as they just don't come up very often, especially at what I would consider a very reasonable price in Australia.
Link, seller comments and pics below.
http://www.ebay.com.au/Daion-Power-Mark-XX
I bought this guitar around 1984/85 with the intention of learning to play. However this plan did not eventuate and this guitar spent most of its 28 years in its case in a cupboard. I have owned the guitar from new and is in excellent condition and has all its original components.

This
guitar was Daion's top of the line model and its colour is called Wine
Red. It has a 9 Peice Maple/Rosewood through body neck, the body is
Maple and Ash, bound ebony finger board and Dual Humbuckers with tap. It
also has Brass Nut, saddles and inlays (which with the through body
neck is to enhance sustain.) and gold plated tuners.
Structurally
clean and solid: Neck is straight with no noticeable fret wear. The
Electronic work and sound great. The strings are quite old and need
replacing.
Cosmetically the guitar is very
clean with a few bumps and scratches on the back (see photos) with a
near perfect front. Its if far above average for a Japanese guitar of
this age. It does have an manufacturing fault in the neck where it looks
like some of the Rosewood has been filled (refer to photos) I did not
notice this until I had owned the guitar for many years. Please look at
the photos carefully as they make up part of the description.
Regretfully after nearly 30 years or ownership circumstances dictate that my guitar & I must part company.
Sale is for Cash on Pickup only.

Black on Black Daion Performer on Ebay.com.au
Seriously, what percentage of Daion Performers were painted black, a rather high one by the looks of things lately! Anyway, anti black rant over for now ..........
Here we have a Daion Performer, one of the ones with the "WITH PRECISION-MADE TREMOLO" in small print on the headstock, which also features a single vintage style pressed string tree and split tuners.
The body is black with a black pickguard, the pickup covers are black, control knobs are black, and the rear cover plate is also black.
The neck looks like a beautiful piece of timber which has a lovely amber colour to it, with a rosewood fret board. The nut is white which is always a good thing, black nuts just don't look right to me!

Few chips on the body, body is solid wood, not laminated. Neck is beautiful, 90% frets, fretboard is rosewood laminated on curved maple as the 60's instruments were. I'm choosing my words carefully as Fender Australia deleted my last add for breaching something?? Not impressed.
Sounds and plays fantastic. I'm not getting into the argument of Japanese made or Korean.....do some research and you'll find 2 distinct performer guitars, one from Korea, one from Japan (and one assembled in Korea from Japanese parts when Daion were relocating. This is one of those with no made in ...... on the neck plate) Neck will be removed for posting in well padded box cost $30 anywhere in Australia. Merry Christmas :)

Body is in black, bridge saddles are the vintage pressed style, white pick guard, pickup covers and knobs are quite aged looking, it has the single round string tree, later style tuners, and it has the bullet style truss rod with no skunk stripe on the rear of the neck.

The "He Who Hesitates Is Lost" Daion Rockson MDL!
I'd been looking at this Daion Rockson MDL that was listed for sale for a couple of weeks, and was only about 15 minutes away from where I live. However the morning I was going to call about going to buy it, refreshed the advert to see it come up sold, grrrrrrrrr .........
Anyway, here it is added to the list just to remind me not to hesitate in the future!
